The executive director of Music NL is pleased to see money set aside in the federal budget to promote the possibility of Canada entering Eurovision.
The song contest usually showcases European talent but Canadians, like Celine Dion, have participated in the past, albeit under different flags.
While some remain skeptical that Canada will actually be able to enter the contest, Tamara Kater says the possibility is very exciting.
She says it will position Canada as a music leader “which we are on the world stage.” She also applauds the ongoing investment in the CBC as recognition of culture as an economic driver, and diplomacy on the world stage. “It does lead to business,” says Kater.
