The CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation is urging people to be careful of where they purchase their cannabis online.

During a recent survey about illicit cannabis commissioned by the NLC, about one-third of respondents said they thought purchasing from mail-order marijuana sites was legal, and another 43 per cent were unsure.

In terms of online, Bruce Keating says it is only legal in Newfoundland and Labrador to purchase from ShopCannabisNL.com.

When purchasing from other sites, Keating points out that there are no mechanisms in place to make sure the product is safe.

He says it can be difficult to differentiate between legal and illegal sites.

He says they are often polished, can take online payments, and can deliver right to the customer’s door. However, Keating cautions that the only place to legally buy cannabis online is ShopCannabisNL.com. Any product from there, he says, is regulated and tested.
