The premier doesn’t believe the projected increase in the deficit will affect his ability to live up to promises made on the campaign trail.

Finance minister Craig Pardy recently released a fiscal update, indicating that the deficit is now nearing one billion dollars.

Instead of hindering their ability to live up to campaign promises, Tony Wakeham argues it ensures they remain focused on the priorities of the people.

He says those are the “pillars” of the PC platform – better access to healthcare, lower taxes and safer communities. He says they will implement measures to “start down that road.”
