MADD Canada and the RNC set up shop yesterday afternoon in Logy Bay searching for impaired drivers.
The initiative is part of their yearly enforcement drive, setting up on roadways across the province, looking for people who are behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Martin Wiseman, who is with MADD Canada, is urging people who may be going out to celebrate the new year to do so responsibly.
“It amazes me that some people still don’t take this seriously and I think that’s why our work is so important and our work is certainly not done,” he said.
“Obviously we know at this time of year, this is when people have parties, and go to gatherings.
If you do see someone who is suspected to be driving under the influence, police ask that you call 911.
