The Carbonear Volunteer Fire Department has received a sizable donation from the Powell family.
Max and Carol Powell donated $12,000 to the fire department to help purchase equipment for its new crew cab truck.
Grandson Max Powell, who is a firefighter with the fire department, made the presentation to Fire Chief Trevor Crawford yesterday.
