It’s going to be a wet, slushy mess on the Avalon Peninsula and Burin Peninsula tonight and overnight with about 20 mm of rain on the way.
Rainfall amounts could reach as high as 30 mm in some areas, resulting in heavy water build up and potential flooding.
The temperature will rise to plus 6 before dropping off to around the freezing mark later tomorrow.
With the snow melt, that could also mean it will be slippery in places as the temperature falls.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Hayley Wigmore says there are also freezing rain warnings out for central Newfoundland.
That includes the Gander area, Grand Falls-Windsor, Buchans area, and the Bay d’Espoir Highway, where a significant period of freezing rain is forecast for the overnight hours tonight.
