One person suffered serious injuries and his home was destroyed by fire on New Year’s evening.

Harbour Grace RCMP say the fire broke out on Matthew’s Road in Brownsdale, Trinity Bay around 7:00 p.m. on January 1st.

The Old Perlican Fire Department extinguished the blaze, but the house could not be saved.

The occupant was taken to hospital in Old Perlican, then transferred to St. John’s for treatment of his injuries.

The cause of the fire, which is under investigation, is not believed to be criminal in nature.
