Canada’s foreign affairs minister has confirmed that a Canadian citizen has died during protests in Iran “at the hands of Iranian authorities.”
Anita Anand delivered the news in a post on X today.

She says consular officials are in contact with the victim’s family in Canada.
Despite a government crackdown on growing unrest in Iran, protests continue. The Islamic regime has blocked internet access in the country as it tries to quell anti-government sentiment, but videos leaked out of the country show continued demonstrations.
Reports suggest that thousands have been killed as a result of the Iranian government’s response to the protests.
Iranians living outside the country, including those in St. John’s, have joined in global protests against the Islamic regime.
