The Baltic III, which ran aground at Cedar Cove nearly one year ago has sustained more damage as severe weather continues to pound at the bulk carrier.
The Canadian Coast Guard says assessments confirm more damage to both sides of the vessel.
A crack on the port side has spread to the stern – and buckling on the starboard side has extended forward.

Worsening damage is becoming more apparent following recent Coast Guard survey of the Baltic III (Canadian Coast Guard)
Heavy ice has also accumulated on the vessel.
A significant amount of debris was also found onshore after the most recent storm, but no oil pollution was noted during a shoreline check and drone surveillance.
The Coast Guard says the focus in the days ahead will be on setting up skimming operations to remove any floating oil that remains in the tanks once it is safe for crews to access the vessel.
