RCMP are offering their thanks to the volunteers with the Sandwich Bay Retrievers Search and Rescue Team for locating a snowmobiler who had been reported overdue.
The man departed Black Tickle Thursday morning, heading toward Cartwright, but didn’t arrive as expected.
RCMP contacted the search and rescue team that afternoon when they were unable to locate the man.
Two separate teams were dispatched to search two possible routes.
Searchers found the man and his broken down snowmobile on a trail about 30 km from Cartwright and brought him, with his snowmobile in tow, back to safety.
Both teams made it back before stormy weather closed in.
