The old Roman Catholic church hall and school house in Portugal Cove-St. Philips is being renovated and repurposed as a community facility thanks to $1.7 million in federal government funding.
Minister Joanne Thompson joined with Arts Wellness Heritage Group President Michael Pretty for the announcement.
The 109-year-old structure will see “significant” upgrades including a 75 square meter expansion, renovated bathrooms, solar panels and heat pump system.
