A man who was in breach of his release order is facing new charges of assaulting a police officer.
RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor went to check-in on 38-year-old Brendan Mullins last Tuesday after he had been released on strict conditions a week prior.
After discovering he was in violation of his release order, a traffic stop was carried out. While attempting to arrest him, Mullins allegedly became combative and assaulted one of the officers.
He was taken to the detachment, where he continued to resist arrest and refused to cooperate with officers.
Mullins has since been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer and failure to comply with the conditions of a release order.
RCMP also ticketed him for driving without the proper credentials.
