Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke briefly with the media in Ottawa earlier today regarding the horrific mass shooting in British Columbia.
Ten people, including a lone suspect, are dead following the shootings, which took place at a school and a home in the community. About 25 others were injured.
Carney was emotional when speaking about the tragic situation earlier today.
“This morning, parents, grandparents, sisters, and brothers in Tumbler Ridge woke up without someone they love. The nation mourns with you. Canada stands by you.
Carney says he has spoken with BC Premier David Eby, and all possible assistance will be offered.
Carney says flags on all government buildings will be flown at half mast for the next seven days.
“We will get through this, we will learn from this. But, right now it’s a time to come together as Canadians always do in these situations, these terrible situations, to support each other, to mourn together, and grow together.”
