This is Education Week across Newfoundland and Labrador – a time set aside to recognize teachers and staff in our school system.
NLTA President Dale Lambe says it’s a time for students and others to show their appreciation for educators.
Lambe says while the week is usually more celebratory, the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. this week highlights the importance and professionalism of teachers during difficult times.
He says it’s important to have conversations during a time of tragedy, and that teachers will inspire students as they answer questions and help them navigate the aftermath of the incident.
