A 35-year-old woman has been arrested and charged after police say she pushed police and threw a cup of coffee at them.

The RNC were investigating a separate situation at an emergency shelter in St. John’s just before 9:00 last night when a staff member approached the officer to say a woman was causing issues and refusing to leave.

As law enforcement approached the woman, she is said to have thrown a cup of coffee – but it missed. She then pushed the officer after becoming more “irate.”

The woman was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, and was transferred to the city lockup.
