Seafood companies are claiming victory in a dispute with the union over crab prices.
The FFAW filed grievances in relation to last year’s fishery, claiming that the Association of Seafood Producers withheld sales information and manipulated harvesters’ fair share of profits, shortchanging them in the process.
The association says it complied with the formula devised by the FFAW for the minimum price of $5.25 per pound.
The ASP says an arbitrator has ruled against the FFAW in the dispute.
Processors say the snow crab fishery must present stability and confidence to buyers and customers this year as the main market remains the United States.
