The Brad Gushue rink had a chance, but the skip could not put up a guard with his last rock, leaving an opening for Mat Dunstone of Manitoba. Dunstone made no mistake, picking up three in the tenth for the win.

In the other playoff opener at the Mary Brown’s Centre this afternoon, Kevin Koe defeated Brad Jacobs.
If they are to get themselves in position to win the Brier, the two Brads will have to do it the hard way as they have lost one of their two playoff lives.
The next round goes tonight at 7:30. Gushue plays King and Jacobs is up against Calvert.
