The Justice Minister has met with RNC Chief Pat Roche to discuss staff vacancies within the rank and file.
The RNCA says the Constabulary is about 80 officers short of being in-line with national population ratios after losing a number of officers for a variety of reasons.
Government promised to bolster policing during last fall’s election campaign.
Minister Helen Conway Ottenheimer says she’s spoken with the chief to see how to best support officers.
“I can also say that we know that investments in law enforcement is very important to our government and we will deliver on our promise to prioritize public safety.”
