People in a section of Labrador are urging the authorities to do everything they can to ensure that a second doctor interested in serving the area doesn’t get away.
Cartwright-L’Anse au Clair MHA Lisa Dempster presented a petition in the House of Assembly the first week of business outlining some of the difficulties people have in accessing medical services.
Currently, one doctor serves all of southern Labrador. She says a second doctor applied in November or December but she is being told continuously that they are working through the process. “I am worried that it’s going to fall through, if it hasn’t already.”
Health Minister Lela Evans assured that she is aware of the issue and is on top of the file. “We’ll do everything we can to get those answers shortly,” said Evans.
