A tragic anniversary for the province’s offshore will be marked this week.
This Thursday marks the 17th anniversary of the crash of Cougar Flight 491 off the province’s coast that killed 17 people.
There was only one survivor when the Sikorsky S-92A’s gear box ran dry and the helicopter crashed into the ocean as the crew was attempting to get back to St. John’s on a trip to the offshore
A memorial service is planned for Thursday at the Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle on Kenmount Road. It takes place at 7:00 p.m.
