The hockey season has ended early in Port aux Basques.
The Bruce II Sports Arena which saw heavy damage to its roof in a windstorm earlier this season, faced another setback over the weekend, with an issue with the brine pump.

Contractors had been trying to secure parts for the pump to keep the season alive, but in a social media post yesterday, the town says the unit had to be replaced in its entirety.
The town says it’s “not ideal year” for the arena, but the issue became “impossible to rectify without a new brine pump.”
