The Canadian government has officially met its NATO spending target of two per cent of GDP according to information released in NATO’s annual report.
NATO’s numbers show that Ottawa spent more than $60-billion on defence in 2025, amounting to just over two per cent of GDP.
That compares to 1.47 per cent spent on defence the previous year.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to address the milestone during a stop in Halifax today.
