A 54-year-old man has been charged with resisting arrest after police attempted to take him into custody on outstanding warrants.

RCMP in Channel-Port aux Basques arrived at a home in Doyles Thursday afternoon to execute a civil and criminal warrant against the man in question.

RCMP say the accused would not comply with police instructions, but after a brief altercation, was taken into custody.

He was taken to hospital for evaluation, but no injuries were reported and he was released to police a short time later.

Charged with resisting police, he was scheduled to appear in court on his previous warrants.
