The pocketbook is likely going to take another hit next week thanks to the annual switchover to summer blend gasoline.
Newfoundland and Labrador will make the switch to the summer blend one week from today.
That changeover typically comes at an extra cost to the consumer says the President of Canadians for Affordable Energy, Dan McTeague.
He says the change is necessary as we head into the warmer months, but the makeup of the blend is more expensive to produce.
He says the blend prevents gas from evaporating so fast in the heat which prevents issues with the vehicle’s emissions. The blend will tack on about 7 cents extra per litre.
