More than 150 municipal managers and town clerks gathered in Gander this week for a professional administrators’ conference.

Vice President of Strategy Steps and the long-time former CEO of Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador, Craig Pollett, told VOCM Open Line with guest host Darrin Bent that the conference is allowing municipal administrators to network on a variety of issues.

“They’re talking about mental health and wellness, they’re talking about funding opportunities, they’re talking about wastewater treatment, they’re talking about…how to do a property tax sale properly, economic development, cybersecurity…all the ways the sausage gets made.”

He says networking is important “because sometimes the answer to a problem you’ve had for years has actually been solved in the neighbouring town; you just got to ask the right person.”
