A 40-year-old man who was wanted by police is facing new charges following his arrest on the main highway in Trinity South near Green’s Harbour.
Whitbourne RCMP attempted to stop a motorcycle on the highway around 7:00 p.m. Friday.
Instead of coming to a stop, the driver attempted to speed away, and police called off the chase.
The same bike was later found near Whiteway, and the driver, 40-year-old Ian George, was taken into custody, but not before putting up some resistance.
RCMP say George, who showed signs of impairment, also refused to provide a breath sample.
He’s been charged with flight from police, refusal, and impaired driving. He’s also been charged with driving with a suspended licence, driving without insurance, and driving without a valid licence plate.
The investigation continues.
