The House of Assembly has closed up shop for the spring sitting, with the government saying it’s moved legislation that it wanted during the session.
“Order” became one of the most used words in the House of Assembly, as the end of a raucous sitting came to a close.
The newly elected PC’s sat in the House of Assembly for the first time as government, and the Liberals, who all but one sat as members of opposition for the first time.
Heated debates were the order of the day, and the two trades jabs over Dr. Des Whalen, The Bay du Nord Agreement, the Churchill Falls MOU, the provincial budget and provinces healthcare system.
The Liberals and PC’s took one final opportunity to exchange a blow during their goodbye speeches yesterday afternoon, with speaker Paul Lane saying he believes all are working in the spirit of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Government says it’s proud of the work it did – and passed some of the legislation it wanted while the house was open.
The House of Assembly is scheduled to re-open in October for its shorter fall sitting.
