This is Red Shirt Day Across Newfoundland and Labrador, a day where people are being asked to wear something red and show support for people living with disabilities, and to help remove the barriers they face from our society.
Twelve-year-old Valerie Byrne, who lives with cerebral palsy, is this year’s Easter Seals NL Ambassador.
Byrne says Red Shirt Day is an important initiative to help people who live with disabilities feel seen.
She says she is excited, and notes that she is getting all of her friends to wear their red clothes in support too.
