Volunteer fire departments are being invited to submit applications for radios being made available through a provincial government program.

The province has set aside $2.9 million for the purchase of P25 radios.

Each department can apply for up to two devices with a variety available – including portable handheld and mobile dash-mounted units, and base stations.

Most volunteer fire departments are already equipped with three radios.

Applications are open until June 30th.
