The NDP says government should establish an all-party committee to examine the province’s grocery industry.
The party says the committee would look at ways to strengthen food supply, support local producers and businesses, and improve access to affordable groceries.
Leader Jim Dinn, who says the need is urgent, hopes progress can be made in examining the challenges and developing practical solutions.
He’s planning to introduce a Private Members’ Resolution on the matter in the House of Assembly in the fall.
