The federal government has launched a national AI strategy that will ensure that Canadians are brought up to speed on the technology and integrate it into their lives.
There are fears however about the impact the rapidly evolving technology could have on jobs – particularly white collar positions.
Tech blogger Kevin Andrews says AI can create new opportunities in the workplace, and that instead of seeing AI as a threat it should be seen as a “coworker.”
He says the most important thing people can do is learn.
“I think you want to think about the early days of the internet. There was a lot of uncertainty, a lot of excitement and concern and so I think over time society has adapted, created rules and learned how to use it. Really I think the bigger risk isn’t that AI is moving fast, I think the bigger risk is that people stop learning about it and get left behind”.
