The provincial government has added a second vessel to bolster freight delivery on Labrador’s north coast.

The Astron, a contracted swing vessel, has been added to the run to address what government calls the “large volume of freight” that needs to be moved, including building materials.

Government says the boat will be delivering freight only, and will remain in place “for the initial portion of the season.”

Officials will be monitoring the situation and adjusting the boat’s position if necessary.

The boat joins the Kamutik, which is already delivering freight to the region.
