The federal government is providing some $1.5-million to 75 seniors groups across the province.
Metro-area MP Joanne Thompson made the announcement yesterday, which included over $350-thousand to 17 groups in the metro region.
One of the recipients, Connections for Seniors, received $17-thousand to start a seniors-focused podcast for older adults to talk about their life experiences.
Ron Taylor, COO of Connections for Seniors, says the podcast will also help seniors connect with services across the province.
“If you take the Basilica, I say you do a one-and-a-half kilometer circle, and see all the supports are there. But what if you’re a hundred miles away? What if you’re a thousand miles away? How do you get those supports? So the Senior Zone and the podcasting series that we’re doing with this funding will help us reach out to everyone,” he told reporters.
