Your power bill is going up starting today.
The Public Utilities Board approved an overall rate increase of 2.3 per cent earlier this year and Newfoundland Power says the hike is part of the rate mitigation plan for Muskrat Falls.
The provincial government notes that rates could have gone up even higher had it not been for a $45-million Rural Rate Application.
Despite the increase, Newfoundland Power says its electricity rates remain the second-lowest in Atlantic Canada.
