RCMP has ticketed a man on Bell Island for violating the province-wide fire ban.
Police were called to the home on Dobbins Road just after 4 p.m. last Friday and found an unattended wood-burning fire in the backyard.
Crews quickly extinguished the blaze.
The next day, the 72-year-old homeowner was located by police who then issued him a ticket.
The minimum fine for violating the fire ban is $50,000.
