Crews jumped into action to rescue a hiker who ran into trouble on the East Coast Trail last evening.

RNC, paramedics, the Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s Fire Department, along with Rovers Search and Rescue were called after a hiker suffered an injury on the trail near Brocks Head Pond.

The helicopter rescue team was deployed to hoist the patient to safety.

They were taken to hospital for treatment.
