Thirty-year-old Patrick Donald Greer, who is charged in connection with two suspicious fires in St. John’s that caused significant damage to communications infrastructure, has made his first court appearance.

Greer appeared in-person in St. John’s this morning.

He is facing two counts of arson and two counts of mischief by damaging property in connection with a fire at a communication tower in Pippy Park on Nagle’s Place, and another at a radio tower on Densmore’s Lane on Monday.

Emergency crews responded to several similar fires in the region over the weekend, and an investigation into those is ongoing.

The case has been set over to next Wednesday at 3 p.m. for a status update.

Meanwhile, another matter involving Greer is making its way through the courts in Stephenville. There, the man is facing a charge of possession of property obtained by crime. His next court date on that charge is September 3.
