Some much longed-for relief is coming for beleaguered commuters who regularly pass through the Goulds, Mount Pearl and Southlands.

Area MHA Paul Lane says he’s been informed that the new roundabout at Commonwealth and Heavy Tree Road is expected to be open to traffic by the weekend – barring any possible weather delays.

He says by the end of the weekend that section of Commonwealth Avenue and Ruby Line should be reopened.

Lane says while necessary, the work has caused area residents and local commuters a lot of headaches, especially for residents of Southlands.

He says it’s caused a lot of traffic in Southlands, shifting the traffic from Commonwealth to Richard Nolan Drive.
