The Mounties say they’ve put more dedicated resources into trying to get to the bottom of a suspicious fire that destroyed some 200 structures on the Conception Bay North Shore last August.
Officer in Charge of Investigative Support Services with the RCMP, Adam Palmer, says officers from outside Newfoundland and Labrador have been assisting in the investigation.
Suspects initially identified in the investigation have been cleared, and with no new leads, the investigation has become a “challenge” according to Palmer.

He believes information may have been reported to people of authority, but not conveyed to RCMP. He’s now asking people with information not directly reported to police to come forward.
“There are people that we believe have information that would be valuable to our investigators. I believe that they’ve likely reported it or talked to somebody else in a position of authority, but they haven’t spoken to the police. For example, if they reported it to 911 or Wildfire, it may have been sent to another provincial agency and not the police if it wasn’t deemed suspicious at the time,” he told reporters.
