The province is providing grants to help with programming and supports for the rehabilitation of Indigenous inmates.
The $270,000 in funding will allow the Nunatsiavut Government and the Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation to continue to deliver cultural programming at the Labrador Correctional Centre.
Meanwhile, the Aboriginal Women’s Network will also be able to begin delivering cultural programming and supports at the Bishop’s Falls and West Coast correctional centres.
Discussions on providing similar programming at the Clarenville Correctional Centre are underway.
