The Department of Transportation says signs have been installed to direct traffic at the new roundabout as part of the Team Gushue Highway extension, though it recognizes that it may take drivers “some time” to familiarize themselves with the new routes.

VOCM News received several calls from frustrated drivers yesterday who believe signage in the area is insufficient.

In particular, people can no longer go straight down Brookfield Road from the intersection with Commonwealth Avenue because the new highway cuts through there.

To access most of Brookfield Road leading to Bowring Park, people need to go up Commonwealth Avenue, through the lights, to the new roundabout, which connects to that area.

The other section of Brookfield Road, which begins at the Orangestore, is now essentially a residential cul-de-sac.

The provincial government says signage has been installed in the area to guide drivers, and it will be monitoring traffic operations in the area and will review any feedback from drivers.

They thank the public for their patience as drivers adjust to the new layout.
