The labour movement is celebrating the victories of the past and reaffirming its commitment to keep fighting for safer workplaces and fair wages on this Labour Day.

Federation of Labour President Jessica McCormick says it’s important to remain vigilant when it comes to the rights of workers.

“And many of those fights that unions and the labour movement fought many, many years ago, which prompted the recognition of this holiday, are still fights that workers are facing today when it comes to safe working conditions.”

A number of Labour Day activities are planned throughout the province.
