The Fischells Salt Dome Power Generation Project in Bay St. George has been resubmitted to the provincial government with a significant change – the addition of a wind farm to export power to the Maritimes.
TPR describes itself as a clean energy company focused on unlocking the potential of the salt dome for utility-scale underground energy storage and generation. The company owns strategic mineral rights and licenses in relation to the salt dome.

The original project proposal was taken off the table and replaced by a revised document which includes the generation of hydro through wind projects.
TPR plans to connect to the hydro grid at Bottom Brook, which gets it to the Maritime Link and Nova Scotia. The energy could also supplement Newfoundland’s needs as NL Hydro has said that it will need to add capacity over the next five years.
The minister’s decision on the proposal is due November 2 with the deadline for public comment October 24.
