A woman in Grand Falls-Windsor is channeling her grief over the loss of her sister in a highway crash earlier this year to launch an online petition calling for a divided highway across the entire province.

It’s been a deadly year on the province’s highways. At least nine people have died so far this year, including Faith Power’s sister Erica Jane and her boyfriend Kerry Sargent in April.

Work is underway to extend the divided highway in two areas of the province but Power believes it would benefit everyone to see that extended across the island.

“It makes me happy that they’re doing something, but it would benefit us the most if they did the entire…highway.”
