The frontman for the Irish Descendants is remembering how one of their most popular songs first blew up on VOCM’s Irish Newfoundland Show.

Con O’Brien received a lifetime achievement award during the MusicNL awards gala Thursday night.

One of their most beloved tunes is their version of Rattlin’ Bog, and O’Brien recalls the strong reaction the song got when it was first released.

“It was on the Irish Newfoundland Show, of course, and the reaction to that song that morning, they got so many calls to the switchboard. I remember my cousin used to work there…they had to play this song, I thought it was 11 times but apparently Greg (Smith) says it was 12.”
