A new Narrative Research poll of Atlantic Canadians shows a high level of satisfaction with the federal government’s performance to-date, much higher than approval ratings for each of the four Atlantic provincial governments.
Of those asked in this province – 72 per cent are satisfied with the federal government’s performance. That’s up from 65 per cent just three months ago.
Narrative Research says the results reflect the Prime Minister’s response to the ongoing trade war with the U.S. and President Donald Trump’s increasingly erratic threats and insults against Canada.
On a provincial level, satisfaction in the performance of the Wakeham government has dropped by 5 points to 23 per cent.
Dissatisfaction in the premier’s performance rose substantially over the last three months from 29 per cent to 40 per cent, while “Churchill Falls continues to be a defining issue” according to the pollster.
Narrative Research says “those who are dissatisfied focus on broken promises,” including the reversal on a commitment to hold a referendum, and “fears that the proposed agreement disproportionately benefits Quebec.”
