There will soon be a new traffic configuration at one of the busiest intersections in St. John’s.
The city says a construction project at the intersection of Goldstone Street, Thorburn Road, and Seaborn Street is expected to be completed tomorrow.
Once the work is complete, drivers will notice new flashing green arrows.

A model of the changes made to the Thorburn Road intersection following construction (via City of St. John’s).
Heading west on Thorburn Road, there will be two lanes for left-hand turns onto Goldstone Street, and one lane for through traffic heading toward Portugal Cove.
The turning lanes will have two corresponding lanes on Goldstone Street – one which will turn into a turning lane to get onto Pippy Place, and another that will take drivers towards Kelsey Drive.
In the opposite direction on Thorburn Road, one lane will be for left-hand turns onto Seaborn Street, and there will be two lanes for traffic heading towards the Avalon Mall.
The city says the changes will help improve traffic flow and safety.
