Three firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department who sprang into action when a colleague went into cardiac arrest at the firehall have been honoured for their efforts at the annual Firefighter of the Year Awards.
On August 5th, Adam Vautour, Brandon Snow, and Mark Vincent were all on duty at the Goulds Fire Station when Captain Patrick Sears suffered a cardiac arrest at the station.
Without hesitation, all three men took immediate control starting CPR, pulling out the AED, and even administering oxygen. Those quick actions saved Sears’ life.

Vautour praised his two colleagues.
He says they are two incredible firefighters and he is very thankful that his captain survived.
Fire Chief Sherry Colford expressed her gratitude.
Colford says the vocation of firefighting was what the three men were born to do.
