The province’s film and television industry is generating never-before-seen economic activity, according to PictureNL.
There has been a buzz around the industry in the last few weeks thanks to the premiere of Netflix’s Newfoundland-based series Below.
Executive director Laura Churchill says there was $150-million in production activity in the province last year, which she calls the “greatest year” they have had to-date.
According to Churchill, the numbers for this year are quickly climbing.
She says they are about halfway through their fiscal year, and they have already hit $100 million in production. She says those numbers show stability and growth in the industry.
