The Executive Director of Rainbow Riders says they really felt the embrace from the entire community throughout the Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup.
The Northeast Eagles gave Rainbow Riders a huge shot in the arm worth $100,000 when they were announced the Good Deeds Cup winners on Saturday night during Hockey Night in Canada.
Executive Director, Kelly Sandoval says it was an emotional weekend. She says it has always been said that Newfoundland and Labrador supports their own, and that certainly proved to be true in this scenario.

(Members of the Northeast Eagles hoist a $100,000 cheque, being named the 2020 Good Deed Champions.)
The money will give Rainbow Riders a buffer, and allow them to move forward with plans that are already in the works. Sandoval says hopefully they can set some aside for the future.
She says one of the nice things she felt came from the journey was realizing how much people appreciated the work their doing, and the impact it has had on so many people. Sandoval calls it heartwarming.
Sandoval says they got to know the Northeast Eagles pee wee team very well throughout the contest and that’s something she believes that inspired and motivated the team.
She says the team had a chance to view riding lessons, meet the horses and instructors, and even had a party with pony rides. She believes viewing the many layers of the organization was inspirational, and made a huge difference.
